Cristian Duarte in company

Ó is a choreography directed by Cristian Duarte created and produced within the context of the artistic residency Lote, in which the choreographer has been developing his research in dance since 2011. It is also the result of a cooperation with the German company CocoonDance.

With an interest in minimalism in dance and the sensoriality of movement, this creation manifests the will to establish a tactile dramaturgy through the incessant modulation of perception and affection. As a meeting that is established between many instances, from the molecular to the outermost, the piece invites the audience to build, with the dancers, an empathetic field. That feeling that we all can, and that thrills us with a perspective foreign to us, it is essential to move the work to establish a dilation of details and subtleties.

The Orpheus myth, a departing point proposed by the German company CocoonDance, injected a reflective will on how to re-signify the relational speech present in the Greek narrative. The insistence in establishing a distant thought of the tragic hemisphere, the look back of Orpheus, who made him allegedly abandone all his libidinal investment to Eurydice, has become, to us, a judgment. Every choice comes across crossroads and to choose a world comprising the act of looking back, with all metaphors it may and can designate, with awareness, brings to the work a movement that seizes the future near to an ecology of affections, and far from obedient straight forwardness unable to wring way.
